How to compress VCD video DAT files?
Free download VCD compressor, install and run the software.
Step 1. Input Video
Click 
button to input DAT files.
Step 2. Convert video format
Open Profile drop-down list and choose an output format. Lots of excellent video formats can greatly reduce the file size while almost keeping the original video quality, compared with VCD video (MPEG-1 encoded), such as MP4, AVI (DivX), MOV, etc.
Step 3. Adjust output quality
You can easily adjust the output video quality from the Video Quality drop-down list on the right panel. Given the same codec, the lower quality leads to smaller file size.
Step 4. Customize encoding settings
Pro users can manually adjust video encoding settings like resolution, bitrate, frame rate, sample rate, etc. by clicking Profile Settings button on the upper right.
Step 5. Compress video to specified file size
Use the handy Bitrate Calculator tool to set a file size and output video in designated size. It is available in Video Quality drop-down list and Tools menu.
Step 6. Start Compression
Step 3 to Step 5 all can help you adjust the degree of compression, choose any one as you want. After you finish all the above settings, click
